This handsome modernist landscape was painted by Polly Van Arsdell a Minnesota artist and art teacher. Ms. Van Arsdell studied at Ohio State University School of Art, Thurn School of Art in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and the Museum of Fine Art in Houston, Texas, and also worked for a time with artist Umberto Romano. Working in an abstract style, the artist suggests vignettes of autumn landscape mirrored by reflections in calm water. The painting was executed on the textured side of a Masonite panel measuring 29-1/2″ by 23-1/2″ and is housed in a custom wood frame measuring 33″ by 27″. The painting is signed in the lower right corner. Written on the back in pencil are the artists name and address, along with the title of the painting — “Reflections 4” — its original price and the name and address of the original owner. The painting is in excellent condition, with clear, vibrant colors and no damage.
