This lovely midcentury seascape is signed by German artist Karl Neumann (1891 – 1980-85). It presents a serene image of seagulls over a boat pulled on shore in the late afternoon sun. The canvas measures 16″ high by 12″ wide. The solid wood frame measures 24-1/2″ high by 20-1/2″ wide and includes a 1″ wide fabric liner. The frame and image are well suited to one another and very representative of the 1960’s to 1970’s period in which they were created. The painting is in excellent condition, with no cracking or other damage. The painting does not appear to need cleaning as the colors, including the highlights, are bright and vibrant.
