Description

This midcentury silver brooch, done in a striking modernist in design with a deep violet stone near its center, is the work of renowned silversmith Otto Robert Bade. The brooch is stamped “sterling” and “Orb,” the mark of Bade’s company. It measures 2-3/4″ long by 1-1/2″ wide and weighs 8.5 grams. Although not tested, the stone is believed to be amethyst. It is in very good vintage condition.

About the Artist:

Otto Robert Bade was a foreman in the modernist metal shop of Frank Rebajes of New York in the 40s-50s. He established his own business in New Hope, Pennsylvania in 1958, eventually purchasing the rights to Rebajes’ Wearable Art designs.
