Description
This Mangani-designed Oggetti porcelain panther embodies the meticulous craftsmanship and impeccable design characterizing work conceived in this celebrated Florence atelier. The porcelain feline form is subtly modeled and hand painted in gold from head to tail in painstaking detail. The base, in contrast, is modernist in tone, with its minimalist geometric forms in clear Lucite and polished brass. The piece was made in the 1970’s and is in excellent condition, with no damage to the figure or base. It measures approximately 17″ long x 9″ tall x 4″ deep and bears the “Mangani” mark on the underside of the porcelain figure.
About the Makers
The Mangani family connection with fine porcelain dates to the 1930s, when Sr. Mangani worked for one of the oldest porcelain producers in Florence. After WWII, he opened his own workshop, where his sons Ivan and Lando began to develop mastery of the ceramic art under their father’s supervision. In the early 1960’s, the two opened their own workshop in Florence, where their expertise in traditional craft coupled with the introduction of modern techniques led their work to take its place at the forefront of Florentine fine ceramics. Founded by the Frehling family in 1975 Oggetti today remains synonymous with contemporary design. Working with small ateliers from around the world, Oggetti brings together the finest offerings in furniture, lighting and objets d’art. Together, Oggetti and Mangani are a match made in heaven, bringing from each of their perspectives an unsurpassed aesthetic and uncompromising standards.
