Description
Timeless and elegant, these salad servers are ideal for anyone who appreciates fine design and the exceptional quality that goes hand in hand with the Georg Jensen name. Created by Swedish royalty Prince Sigvard Bernadotte for Georg Jensen’s company, the servers embody the graceful design and understated fluting that have made the pattern a favorite since its appearance in 1939. The handles are made of silver and are stamped “sterling” on the back near the top. On the front, the handles are stamped with the Georg Jensen mark used for items made from 1945 onward. The bowl and neck portion to the utensils are made of polished stainless steel. They measure 7-1/2″ long by 2-13/16″ wide. Both are in excellent condition, with only a very few faint scratches that could be removed by polishing.
About the Maker
Sigvard Bernadotte joined Jensen shortly after completing his formal fine arts education in Stockholm, beginning a productive, decades-long affiliation. Influenced by the functionalism of Gunnar Asplund, Bernadotte is revered for his ability to invest the everyday objects he designed with functional elegance. Georg Jensen has long been recognized as a producer of the finest silver craft available anywhere and his name is considered synonymous with Scandinavian design. The items resulting from Bernadotte’s and Jensen’s association represent the apex of both craftsmanship and functionalist design.
