This Long Tail Bird is a true classic of midcentury modern figural glass and a best seller for the Viking Glass Company during its production between 1962 and 1970. The bird is a member of the popular “Epic” line, which, in a 1966 ad, the company compared in beauty to a Scandinavian fjord. It is rendered in the highly collectable “Bluenique” color. While the Long Tail Bird figure was produced in considerable numbers in a variety of colors over the years, an example in pristine condition with the fragile tail still intact, as is the case here, is considered an excellent find. The base measures 2-1/2″ in diameter; total height measures 9-3/4″.
