Description
This rare Czech glass decanter dates from the 1920’s or 1930’s and features a beautiful cobalt blue body and neck with applied clear glass handles and base. The polished metal head, which opens to reveal the spout, is stamped “Czechoslovakia” on the upper section of its hinge. The tip of the tail and the base of the decanter are polished. There are small chips on the bottom edge of the base near the rear, most likely resulting from the original grinding/polishing process. Otherwise, the glass appears to be in perfect condition. The exterior of the head is in very good condition, with a few very small dents, which are only visible on close inspection. The hinge functions perfectly, with no excess play or misalignment. There is some wear to the plating on the interior edge of the spout – the result of cleaning and polishing through the years, we suspect. The decanter measures 11″ high by 5″ wide by 10″ deep, measured from the tip of the tail to the tip of the beak.
